To mothers

You do not always know what's right
or how to break up sibling fights
You may not heal by miracle kisses
or grant your children all their wishes
You may not be able to make fairies appear
Or destroy the monsters and every other fear

You may not hold the key to success
or have the best sense in dress
You may not be able to see through walls
or stop the children from climbing the walls

But you are a hero to a little person
Always there when life decides to worsen
A guiding hand and shining star
For all your kids near or far

They try to show you
with crappy gifts like soap or shampoo
That they are aware of all you do
They do appreciate and love you

So take you soap or crooked hand print
As though forged by the finest mint
It was made with love and love is gold
A great work of art for all to behold

Take the skew, messy card that was accidentally glued shut
with the little stain from a paper cut
Your children are showing their love you
Which like the card it goes askew

Take the slobbery kisses and sticky hands
the clothes covered with a million sands
The awkward nose picking
and the impatient tongue clicking

Take the little cup of tea
That smells funny and tastes like pee
Smile and take it like a mom today!
Because it's your job this mothers day.

Baby born

A tiny seed, A little form
A fetus, a baby boy
This is how your baby transformed
This is your bundle of joy

He has your heart beat
Has your stress
Maybe dad’s feet
Or sense of dress?

He has not walked
But has traveled with you
He has not talked
But knows you

He is a piece of you
Big yet small
You’re going to be on cue
Whenever he may fall

He is within you
Yet further than the moon
You’ll hold him in your arms
Very soon

As we pay for you
Do not fear what lies ahead
Your husband will support you
In that hospital bed.

Then you bundle will arrive with a cry
And everything will be just okay
Soon enough you’ll teach your baby to fly
To soon comes the next birthday.

Growing, growing,  big too quickly
crèche then school... blink.... and it's time for university.

Untitled children's poem

Zippy, zapple, zopple, zoosh
mippy mapple, mopple, moosh
Round the room we zoom zoom zoom
and stomp our feet like boom boom boom
Nippy, napple, nopple, noosh
kippy, kapple, kopple, koosh
round and round the room we go
till we ache from head toe

Deny truth

Thought of you creep into my mind like a plague
the more I deny what I feel, the more I see your face,
Dream of your sweet embrace.
Like ivy thoughts of you consume my mind
Till naught is left, but you smile so kind

Deny I must, but denial me kills
Deny I must because it's what you will
Your skin so soft, your scent so sweet
The kiss of a rose between thorns, thoughts of you greet
I can no more! my heart strains it's last strings
But a thought of you and my heart sings
The pain and pleasure, the loss of my mind
Yet thought of you is met with kind

Deny I must, but denial me kills
Deny I must because it's what you will

I deny I love you but I love you still
I deny I care but care I will

Viper and Soother! my greatest pain and joy
Why keep me bouncing like a child's toy?
Yet I know what was said, but actions conveyed
You say you love me not yet love has stayed

Deny I must, but deny I can no more
The love I have for you has poisoned me to my core.

Moving forward

Keep moving forward
leave the past in the past
all mistakes had lessons to be learned
and nothing has to be fast
as long as you keep moving
nothing will get you down
As long as you know where you're going
you never have to frown
It doesn't matter of your pace
just keep moving forward
when you feel you just can't
Run towards the Lord

a modern shakepeare moment

To see what thine eyes have seen, to live what thou hast lived, to feel with thine heart or dream thine dreams in sweet slumber that is love. Love, the fuel of all life, the beginning of every beginning in the cosmos. Oh what have thou done! What witchery is this that I may naught see the world through dull simple eyes, but instead through the glimmering bliss that is love. Love that makes my heart ache in joy, quiver in excitement and freeze in anticipation. Love the curse and blessing, the sorrow and glee. How wilt I ever escape these chains and yet to live without these chains would mean to live in misery. Oh sweet love, you poison apple is there no peace?! Is there no end?!

Random thing I was working on, who knows maybe it'll become something

White fluffy clouds drifted happily across the sky, birds shared their joy in song and the trees swayed in time. She looked upon this happy scene, a stark contrast to the events of this day and she was filled with hope, not hope for herself. She was going to suffer still, the consequences of having a conscience. SHaking herself from her thoughts she knew it was time to leave this life behind, it was time to become who she was meant to be. This would be the greatest challenge yet, to become fearless, to be become strong. She had been alone for as long as she could remember, but never far from the one thing that brings her comfort. Never far from the gift her grandmother had given her.
A small Claddagh ring hung on a necklace around her neck, a promise, the very thing that broke her heart and crushed her faith. A reminder to never trust another. She grabbed her bag and bed roll and headed out the shelter. She ran.
Ketterly forrest was spread over most of the land, there were many druid camps and many hidden lakes. It was a place where one could easily get lost. The trees so tall and proud blocked out all but few rays from the sun and the dark shadowy landscape played on the minds of those who entered. A soft voice was singing in the trees.
If you do enter the forrest,
                                                 Beware you enter your doom
                                                 For ketterly will take you
and keep you in it's gloom
For all who know the woods
                                                 Beware, beware the trees
                                                 For this is land enchanted
                                                 Trees do follow the breeze....
The wind picked up as a young woman sprinted through the forrest. The trees seemed to open a path for her, leading her to her destination. The small druid boy, named Galihad, who sat in the trees watched in awe as he recognised the girl as the one of legend, the one who would bring this world to peace. He sang again a new song one of hope.
When the daughter of Erin rises
The terror of night shall cease
She'll take to the mountains of mourne
and put the land to peace
                                               Waking creatures of legend
                                               The quality of life increased
To the hills, to the hills
She needs to meet the high priest.....
She was running out of time the solstice was only two days away and she needed to get to the mountains of mourne. There she would have to find the druid and present him with a worthy gift. She considered stealing a horse in the village at the foothills of Mt Mourne, but she knew she had to leave behind her obtuse ways. It was time to become wiser, to  not fight by brute strength alone. She was filled with determination and then a strange movement caught her eye. She stopped and being completely still looked in the direction of the movement. There it was again, but it was impossible, trees were moving. The trees seemed to be swimming through the soil with great finesse and ease. She fell to her knees and watched, trying to absorb this new developement.
Galihad watched as Scarramore, the girl of legend, fell to her knees. He had to smile at her reaction to the trees, It was strange to him that people did not realise how alive nature was around them. He climbed down and slowly approached Scarramore.
