To mothers

You do not always know what's right
or how to break up sibling fights
You may not heal by miracle kisses
or grant your children all their wishes
You may not be able to make fairies appear
Or destroy the monsters and every other fear

You may not hold the key to success
or have the best sense in dress
You may not be able to see through walls
or stop the children from climbing the walls

But you are a hero to a little person
Always there when life decides to worsen
A guiding hand and shining star
For all your kids near or far

They try to show you
with crappy gifts like soap or shampoo
That they are aware of all you do
They do appreciate and love you

So take you soap or crooked hand print
As though forged by the finest mint
It was made with love and love is gold
A great work of art for all to behold

Take the skew, messy card that was accidentally glued shut
with the little stain from a paper cut
Your children are showing their love you
Which like the card it goes askew

Take the slobbery kisses and sticky hands
the clothes covered with a million sands
The awkward nose picking
and the impatient tongue clicking

Take the little cup of tea
That smells funny and tastes like pee
Smile and take it like a mom today!
Because it's your job this mothers day.
